Consultation & Training

 Sometimes children need additional support in school in order to fully access learning and feel successful. Our Educational Coordination services use a coaching and consultation model, grounded in the belief that families are their child’s most important advocates.

Our Educational Coordinator meets with families to:

review concerns and current academic functioning

review relevant records (work samples, progress reports, evaluations, IEPs/504 plans, and other educational documentation)

clarify goals and identify barriers to access

provide individualized recommendations and next steps

Families may also receive support in understanding and navigating the special education process, including initiating referrals, interpreting evaluation results, and preparing for school meetings. Meeting attendance and consultation may be available based on individual needs.

Balanced Learning Center offers graduate and undergraduate internships available during the fall/winter, winter/spring, and summer terms for college students or recent grads. We also encourage community members and high school students to volunteer with us to collaborate on community-based projects. Our goal is to make every intern and volunteer who works with us feel included, valuable, productive, and excited about the work they're pursuing. If you have an interest in running groups, working individually with clients, grant writing, community organizing or learning more about the nonprofit world, BLC is the place for you!
